Please join us in welcoming and thanking the distinguished panel of jurors for the 2013 NICHE Awards competition:

LISA BAYNE, chief executive officer of Artful Home and The Guild

Lisa Bayne drives the vision, strategy and marketing of the company, which currently markets the work of more than 1,000 North American craft and fine artists through its print catalog, Artful Home, and web site ArtfulHome.com. Her passion for the arts, and craft in particular, is lifelong, starting with her training as a textile artist and persisting today with her enthusiasm as a serial knitter. Her expertise in and passion for the range of craft media and disciplines fuels her constant interaction with artists and collectors across the country.

JOANNE and PETER HILDT, owners, Pinnacle Gallery

Pinnacle Gallery in Scottsdale, Ariz., has been honored nine times with a NICHE Top Retailer Award. Now in its 15th year, Pinnacle Gallery emphasizes contemporary American craft in home décor, including popular in-home consultations to select and place pieces. The Hildts are committed to supporting artists from throughout the U.S. and Canada.

MARLENE RICHEY, jewelry industry consultant and author of “Profiting by Design”

Marlene Richey writes the “Business Savvy” column for Art Jewelry magazine, teaches at the Fashion Institute of Technology and serves on the board of directors of the Society of North American Goldsmiths. During her 30-plus years in the jewelry industry, she also has run a wholesale business and a retail gallery and has exhibited at hundreds of shows. Her book, “Profiting by Design,” helps artists learn to run a small jewelry design business. She also consults, writes freelance articles and advises emerging artists.

BETTY TALBOTT, Director, Ohio Craft Museum

Betty Talbott has played a significant role in craft and traditional arts in central Ohio for more than 30 years. Talbott is the director of the Ohio Craft Museum and has served as Executive Director of Ohio Designer Craftsmen, and as an instructor at the Delaware Cultural Arts Center and the Columbus College of Art and Design. Talbott has served on numerous grant panels, and juried or curated more than 100 exhibitions and festivals in the United States and internationally.


The Winfiskys combine their talents to curate Grow Gallery as an immersive art experience. In 2011, their Shelburne Falls, Mass., gallery was named Best Artisan-Owned Gallery in the NICHE Top Retailer Awards program. For Lesley, a painter with a background in fine art and English, Grow Gallery is the realization of a lifelong dream. Jonathan is celebrating his 40th year as a glass artist.
